I met Devin through Webster’s International Friendship Program back in September. This program allows you to have an opportunity to connect with an international student at this university. Devin is an exchange student from Japan and has been spending a year at this campus. I have met many international students in my life, and I would say that Devin has one of the most positive spirits known. He always wanted to experience something new, and when he did, he did it such a full engagement. He spent his time outside of the class teaching karate and Japanese in the community.
Well, Devin’s one year at Webster is coming to an end as he returns to Japan on Monday. Yesterday, we got together one last time having lunch at Katie’s Pizza and Pasta (per his request!) and talked about his future plans. Due to my busy work schedule, and his full on engagement with campus activities, we only met a handful of times. But, during those handful of times he has met some of our friends at our house to celebrate Thanksgiving and tried burgers at different local joints (hamburger is his favorite food).
I’m certainly sad for him to leave, but I know he has bright future ahead!
